Primary Role:
Oversee all marketing and distribution activates for the rapidly growing documentary film label, Alive Mind. Seeking a bright, motivated, multi-tasker with a strong desire to join an innovative and rapidly growing DVD and digital media distributor.

Distribution responsibilities:
• Project manage program deliverables & DVD production activities such as packaging and design, encoding and menu authoring, and disc replication.
• Oversee all aspects of distribution and sales for direct-to-consumer distribution.
• Brand manage all aspects of retail distribution for Alive Mind including sales calls and sell sheets

Marketing & PR responsibilities:
• Manage all marketing and PR efforts – drafting & submitting press releases, managing pr company & advertising relationships, organizing promotions and offers etc.
• Recruit and oversee internet marketing partners and manage relationships
• Oversee marketing staff (including intern recruitment) in relation to marketing outreach for Alive Mind’s titles.

Primary Role: Assistant in the marketing/ distribution department for the rapidly growing, documentary film distribution label, “Alive Mind”. Position is intended for a bright, motivated, multi-tasker with a strong interest in learning about all areas of the independent media and film industry and working in a collaborative environment with senior execs of the company.

Distribution & Production responsibilities include:

• Coordinating and overseeing delivery schedules for new acquisitions with producers and rights holders.
• Project managing DVD production activities such as packaging and design, encoding and menu authoring, and disc replication.
• Working with third-party vendors to set-up shopping cart accounts and product pages for each documentary.
• Working closely with our partner distribution company on retail accounts and programs.

Marketing & PR responsibilities include:

• Researching, writing and editing copy for newly acquired films and assisting in creating marketing materials including video clips, press kits, ads and brochures.

• Contacting potential affiliate marketing partners for each program and overseeing affiliate account set-ups and follow-ups.

• Assisting with such PR initiatives as film festival submissions, contacting key press and sending press kits, setting up press databases, and organizing publicity events/screenings.

• Assisting with online marketing projects and customer outreach.

Alive Mind Media, a new DVD label, is seeking savvy interns for internet marketing and film distribution for the Spring 2008 semester.

Interns will work on innovative web-based outreach campaigns for our current properties Secrets of the Soul, Women and Spirituality, The Atheism Tapes, and the award-winning documentary feature Our Daily Bread, in addition to other pending titles. The position involves: helping manage a network of bloggers, researching and contacting affinity web sites, submitting works to film festivals, preparing print and internet marketing materials and contacting online and traditional press.

The position will expose the candidate to all aspects of independent distribution of documentary films—from the acquisition process to public release through dvd, tv and the internet. This is a great opportunity for those who have a passion for thoughtful cinema and are interested in gaining hands-on experience in the film and internet business working with a small team lead by a well known industry figure.

The position is unpaid internship, with academic credit available.

Job Requirements:

This program is meant for university juniors and seniors or recent grads with a serious interest in the field of film and/or the internet. Candidate must have good communication skills and demonstrate that they are able to work independently and responsibly.
